Background
With the EfficienTO project, the City of Turin and the Iren Group have launched an initiative for the energy refurbishment of public buildings, aiming to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and enhance comfort in spaces dedicated to citizens. Among the areas targeted for intervention is the building located at Corso Corsica 55, home to District 8, which houses registry offices, a public library, and local health authority (ASL) services. This is a complex and high-traffic environment, where a precise and reliable environmental monitoring system was required to optimize energy consumption and ensure optimal conditions for both users and staff.
The solution
Capetti Elettronica, in collaboration with system integrator AMB Solutions, supplied a complete remote control system for energy management and the supervision of thermal systems and AHUs (Air Handling Units). The core of the technological solution is the WineCap™ dataloggers with LoRa® radio protocol, which monitor indoor temperature and humidity in real time. The data is transmitted to a cloud platform, enabling detailed analysis. Through the data collection gateway and Modbus protocol, the system interfaces with the Distech Controls™ Building Management System, which actively manages the HVAC equipment, ensuring optimal environmental conditions.
The result
The integration of Capetti Elettronica’s wireless devices with PLCs and supervision software within the BMS system has made the building more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable. The automatic regulation of HVAC systems, based on real-time environmental data, has led to a significant reduction in energy consumption and operating costs. This type of monitoring also enables energy audits and analysis, actively supporting the City of Turin’s decarbonization goals within the EfficienTO project.
